The Romanian Government has approved the National Research-Development and Innovation Plan 2015-2020, a plan that outlines the major development directions for the research domain and that represents one of the main instruments for implementing the national strategy in this domain. The Plan will have a total maximum budget of RON 15 bln over the five-year period (from the state budget, non-reimbursable external funds and project partners’ contributions).
The approval of the National Plan 2015-2020 allows the launching of new calls for projects and the co-financing of the programmes and international projects in which Romania or Romanian research entities are involved, including as part of the Horizon 2020 Programme.
The National Research-Development and Innovation Strategy stipulates the priority domains of intelligent specialization and the public priority domains that also lay at the basis of the National Research-Development and Innovation Plan. Thus, intelligent specialization domains are the domains in which a higher interest for investment in research-development and innovation is forecast. These domains are: biochemistry, IT&C technology, space and security, energy, environment, climate change, eco-nano-technologies and advanced materials.
